3 Main Marketing Methods To Reach Your Audience Online

As I mention in my early post about what people do online( base on research ), I guess most people still spend their time checking email online but there is an increase in hangout time when the web 2.0 take off.

Anyway, 3 main activities people do online:

1. Check Email
2. Search For Information
3. Hangout - Read News, Forum, Community Site

This is where we want to reach them.

Email

Building email list and join venture to promote products is still a gold mine for affiliate marketer since people do check their email. Skill in building the list, where to buy list and join venture are one of the top marketing method to reach the target audience. This is an old school industry transform from direct mail, now it’s just become cheaper! For guys like me, young entrepreneur, we stand a better chance hire and outsource to direct email company to leverage on their expertise. It’s hard to beat a guys who have more experience then you:) It’s possible to learn, but just take sometime to master skill in direct marketing such as copy writing, list building and etc.

Search

Search marketing will turn the world up site down since it’s change the fundamental of how we consume information and advertisement. This industry is relative new, it’s less then 6-7 years industry, and it’s will definitely change the landscape of marketing and advertising forever. Early adopter already reaping tremendous advantage to reach their target audience customer cheaper, faster and more “measurement” way. It’s will become more mature and slowly build it’s barrier of entry just like any other industry when the time go by. People who already making money will try harder to kick you out, they will become more organize, acquire the know-how and etc. Anyway, the opportunity is still there when people still are still learning about the value of certain search keywords and still relative cheap to test.

Blog, Forum, Community - Web 2.0

How much you need to pay in order to advertise in Yahoo? Basically, you need to deposited and open an account with them in the old day like advertising with a TV station. I guess not many people/individual will take out few thousands budget to create an account and spend in advertisement when start out.

With more competition, now the market is open up to the smaller advertiser because all this BIG media advertising firm want to capture the market share. But when the industry become more mature, their focus will definitely switch to profit margin, then serving only the big account will naturally become their next corporate move. Anyway, I don’t see this coming for the next few years since Google, MSN, Yahoo, Myspace, Facebook still going for the market share to secure their online future. This still leave a lot money and great bargain on the table for small advertiser like us, and this is why still a lot of “online” millionaire creating in this process. Anyway, we need to learn how to work with those media and do a better jobs to capture our audience there. The market is still wide open whether you want to create your own community or advertise in other community network, the market is still pretty accessible.

We still spend tremendous time to learn and improve on this 3 main marketing methods. What we can see here is eventually, online marketing will become more mature like offline marketing, and it’s getting more expensive and costly to get in.

Email marketing is become mature and more well guarded industry now. Search is still growing, it’s VERY HOT because people start to see it’s commercial value. Web 2.0 is still wide open but the risk is there since we still don’t have good grasp of it’s commercial value. But if people are spending billion or dollar to buy those community network, I’m sure they must have some “figure” figure out.

Anyway, we need master this 3 marketing methods to build our online business.
