ASCII text file
ASCII text file (American Standard Code for Information Interchange). The worldwide standard format for text files in computers and on the Internet. The code represents all the uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, punctuation, etc. There are 128 standard ASCII codes in which a seven-digit binary number, 0000000 through 1111111, represents each character.
