First Rule Of Content Business Marketing : Promotion Works - But Only If You Start With Great Content!

This is our first rule for making money online, always create a great content/service/product, then promotion will work!

What Make A Great Content?

This is a tough question. As a startup entrepreneur, my strength is always create great web application but I think to create great content, the fundamental marketing strategy thinking still apply. Let see …

Relevant Content : A great content can only be great for certain group of people because it’s relevant to them. People would love to read a relevant content that can make a difference in their life.

Benefit Content : It’s must have an objective that give certain benefit to the reader after reading it. Whether it’s “how to”, entertaining or humor content. It must have a objective and value in there.

Value Content : It’s must have high perceive value of the content. Will your reader pay $10 for this information? Or the supply is limited … the content is so unique, so entertaining that you reader can’t find else where or duplicate. In short, it’s must be valuable or perceived valuable.

So writing a great content is an art but if I have to put that into a business system. Then this is where marketing come in:

Relevant Content
A content can only be relevant if you have a specific target audience. So there are couple of books writing on this topic such as positioning, niche marketing and etc. By only position your website and content, then you can provide relevant content.

Benefit Content
This is where people argue that providing benefit rather then feature. This is why people are more willing to read “How To Make US10,000 A Month By Creating Website” rather then “How To Create A Website”. Benefit SELL. A benefit content always have more value then a feature content.

Value Content
Sometime, benefit is not enough. What we want is benefit content that have a high perceived value. A website or ebook that can teach you how to save $1,000 is more valuable then a website that teach you how to save $100. Of course, this is just a simple example if the content value can be quantify. How you value an abstract object? This is where marketing - Perceived Value concept come in. Just like I say there are couple of book just talking about how to manage and measure customer perceived value.

How This Relevant To Me?

This is where fortune 500 companies paying big money for finding out how to create great product and services. But course, some marketing concept is being too far ahead to apply for One-Man-System work and resources. Anyway, we have our little system that make this work for “one man”. But most of the talented marketer can do it without a system, this is why we call them TALENTED.
