Is Google SERP Confuse You?

We being keep track of our google search engine result page(SERP), the result is not very encouraging.

We found out that … most of the time, the result page can be very confusing. For example, if we tell you that we are currently rank #1 in this keywords, then when you go and search for it, we are not number #1. Why?

Here Are The Reasons

1. Personalization for individual search
2. Personalization for country and language search
3. Different google data server
4. Safe search setting
5. Google seem to change the our page search result from time to time.

Personalization For Individual Search

If you are login in using gmail or other google service, your search might be being personalize base on your search history. If you like the generic result, logout or try pending using this keystring “pws=0″, for example:

http://www.google.com/search?q=YourKeyword&pws=0

Of course the easy way is to logout and we don’t think people will actually append “&pws=0″ in to the search string key except SEO expert.

Personalization For Country And Language Search

I think most of the people aware of the different search option such as search in your country only option, but what is the surprise might the the language setting in your browser. You will have different search engine result page (SERP) for your country and language preference. Well, it’s definitely good news for local business website, if you have a lot of incoming link and anchor text from that country blog and website, you will rank higher in that google local SERP keywords. This give you more edge in competing the Big Boy in your local country.

Different Google Data Server

This is something we heard all the time, google is getting big. It’s got different data server, then it’s might take sometime to be in synchronize with the data in all those server. Anyway, this is the most confusing one, since we don’t know whether our google blog indexed data is in syn or not, this create different search result. Again, don’t tear you hair off by not understand why there is different google search engine result page for your website and keywords.

Safe Search Setting

Again, this is related to individual search setting. Google automatically performs some censoring or filtering search result by default if you login in google service. What you can do is login to go to your google preferences and change the setting to stricter or disabled.

Goolge Have Difference Page Search Result From Time To Time

This is something that we experience lately, for certain time, we are ranking #1, and for certain time we are rank #21, this is getting weird and we are not sure what is the reason. We have turn off all the personalization and other stuff. The result is still very confusing. Maybe we are in the sandbox? Hmm, interesting, I guess we have too many search engine testing going on:) Anyway, please share with us about this because we have limited information about why SERP change from time to time.

Anyway. Well, Never Said …

Well, never said to your client or friends that … if you search this keyword in google, we are number #1!

Because now, it’s all depend!

God, our best way to deal with it is focus on what you are doing and aware of the fact that SERP might be changing all the time.

Anyone have some information about why our SERP changing from time to time beside factors 2-5, please share with us. We hope that it’s not because we are in the sandbox. ( we being so link magnetic lately, and got tremendous incoming links growth ). We now,the best thing we can do is continue with our action plan, and write more pillar ( 101 guide ) content.
